About the La Fontaine tunnel
The Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine bridge-tunnel carries Autoroute 25 under the St. Lawrence between the east end of Montreal and Longueuil and Boucherville, where it becomes Autoroute 20. It’s the main crossing for the east end and for drivers heading toward Quebec City.
The tunnel has been under major rehabilitation, with lanes reduced in one or both directions, so delays can build quickly. The A-20 / A-25 page shows the full route from Sainte-Julie to rue Jarry, and the Victoria Bridge and Charles-De Gaulle Bridge are the nearest alternatives.
